1. Who We Are
Holiness Witnessor Ministries (“Witnessor,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Texas domestic nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that operates the Witnessor mobile application (the “App”) and this website.
- Legal Name: Holiness Witnessor Ministries
- Texas File Number: 806306541
- Mailing Address: 1411 Northeast Stallings Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961, United States
- Privacy Contact: contact@thewitnessor.org
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information.
2. Scope
This policy applies to personal information we collect through the App, this website, and related services such as donations and support. It does not apply to third-party websites, applications, or services that may be linked from within the App, although some of those services (such as Stripe’s donation portal) have their own privacy policies that apply when you use them directly.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Using the App Without an Account
You can read the Bible, use reading plans, read ebooks, listen to audiobooks, and browse teaching without signing in. Your reading position, bookmarks, highlights, favorites, searches, and preferences are saved on your device. Downloaded books and audio remain on your device until you remove them or uninstall the App.
The App creates a persistent, randomly generated device identifier. It is not your name or phone number, but it is not anonymous: it can be used to recognize the same device, and it may be associated with your account if you sign in.
3.2 Information You Provide
- Email address: required only if you choose to create an account. We send a one-time sign-in code to this address.
- First name: used to personalize your profile.
- Optional profile information: country, city, birth year, gender, church, how you heard about Witnessor, spiritual status (for example, seeking, saved, sanctified), and dates associated with your spiritual journey. You may skip any of these fields.
- Soul Quiz results: if you complete the optional Soul Quiz, the App sends your result, the time, your platform, and your device identifier to our database, whether or not you are signed in.
- Donation information: if you give, we keep your receipt name and email, amount, currency, frequency, transaction identifiers, payment status, receipt-delivery information, and your account identifier if you were signed in.
- Support messages: if you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include. Please do not send sign-in codes or complete card details.
3.3 Information Collected When You Sign In
When you are signed in, the App synchronizes your reading and listening progress, reading-plan progress, bookmarks, highlights and notes, favorites, reading activity, recent Bible searches, preferences, and quiz results so that your activity can be restored across devices. Your account has an internal user identifier.
3.4 Notifications and Technical Information
- Notifications: daily scripture reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. If you enable notifications about new content, the App registers a push token, your device identifier, your category preferences, and your account identifier if you are signed in.
- Technical information: our service providers and network services may process IP addresses, request details, and technical logs to deliver content, keep services secure, and troubleshoot problems.
3.5 Sensitive Information
Spiritual status, church, spiritual-journey dates, and Soul Quiz results concern religious beliefs. Providing them is always optional. The App’s reading and listening features work without a profile or the quiz.
3.6 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect precise geolocation, contacts, photos, microphone audio, or biometric identifiers. The App contains no advertising networks or advertising SDKs. Card details you enter for a donation are handled by Stripe in its payment interface; we do not receive or store your full card number.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Sign you in with a one-time email code and maintain your optional account.
- Provide access to Bibles, devotionals, ebooks, audiobooks, reading plans, and related content.
- Save and synchronize your progress, preferences, and library across devices.
- Process donations, send receipts, show giving history, and manage recurring gifts.
- Send the notifications you choose to receive.
- Understand ministry reach, for example by counting Soul Quiz results.
- Respond to your questions, support requests, and feedback.
- Keep our services secure and prevent abuse.
- Comply with legal and accounting obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
We process your personal information on the following legal bases (where GDPR applies):
- Contract: to provide the account features and services you request.
- Consent: for optional profile and religious information, the Soul Quiz, and notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interest: to secure the App, prevent abuse, and improve functionality.
- Legal obligation: to keep donation and accounting records and to comply with applicable law.
5. How We Share Your Information
We share personal information only with the following categories of recipients:
5.1 Service Providers
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. | Sign-in, account and profile database, synced activity | United States |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Content delivery (audio, ebooks), website and support pages | Global edge network |
| Bible and audio providers, including Faith Comes By Hearing (Digital Bible Platform) | Delivery of Bible text and audio you request | United States |
| Expo, Apple, and Google | Delivery of push notifications you enable | United States |
| Stripe, Inc. | Processing of card and Apple Pay donations, recurring gifts, donation portal | United States |
| Email delivery providers | Delivery of sign-in codes and donation receipts | United States |
These providers receive only the information needed to perform their functions. Some may process information in other countries.
5.2 Legal and Safety
We may disclose information to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Witnessor, our users, or the public; or to investigate suspected fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
5.3 Successors
If Witnessor’s ministry operations are transferred, consolidated, or reorganized, personal information may be transferred to the successor entity subject to this policy.
5.4 We Do Not Sell Your Information
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). We do not use your reading or religious information to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
5.5 Text Messaging Opt-In Data
All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won’t be shared with any third parties.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Account records and synchronized activity are retained while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account in the App under More, then Profile, then Delete Account. This removes your sign-in account, profile, cloud reading data, associated quiz records, and account-linked notification registrations. Monthly donations linked to the account are canceled before deletion finishes.
Donation receipts and related financial records are retained for accounting and legal obligations, with their link to your App account removed. Copies in service backups and operational logs may remain until the provider’s retention cycle ends. Reading data and downloads stored on your device remain available without an account; uninstalling the App removes its local storage.
7. International Transfers
Our database is hosted in the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. Where required by law, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for transfers of personal information out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
8.1 All Users
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: correct your profile in the App, or ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: delete your account in the App, or ask us to delete your information, including guest Soul Quiz records.
8.2 Users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland (GDPR)
In addition to the rights above, you may have the right to:
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Request portability of your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8.3 Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may request:
- Disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected.
- Disclosure of the categories of sources, purposes, and third parties with whom we share information.
- Deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
California residents may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on their behalf, subject to verification.
8.4 How to Exercise Your Rights
Email contact@thewitnessor.org with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We may ask for information needed to locate your records and verify that they belong to you (for example, confirming that you control the email address on your account or donation receipt). We will respond within the period required by applicable law (generally 30 days under GDPR and 45 days under CCPA/CPRA).
9. Children’s Privacy
The App is not designed to solicit personal information from children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A child can use the reading and listening resources with a parent or guardian without creating an account or completing the Soul Quiz. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact contact@thewitnessor.org and we will investigate and delete it where required.
Users between 13 and the age of majority in their jurisdiction should create an account only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
10. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit (TLS), encryption of data at rest with our cloud providers, access controls in our database, and principle-of-least-privilege access for staff. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Cookies and Similar Technologies
This website does not use cookies or analytics. The App is a native mobile application and does not use browser cookies. It uses local device storage to keep your preferences, progress, downloads, and sign-in state on your device.
12. Third-Party Links and Content
The App may contain links to third-party scripture resources, devotional content, or external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.
13. Messaging
We send one-time sign-in codes and donation receipts by email. Daily scripture reminders and new-content notifications are optional, and you can change them at any time in the App’s Settings and your device’s notification settings. We do not send marketing text messages. If we offer text messaging in the future, we will send messages only after you expressly opt in, and you will be able to opt out at any time.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page, update the “Last Updated” date above, and, where required by law, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
